Interplanetary Society On
April 7, 1952 Wilbert Smith hosted a meeting of
the Ottawa Interplanetary Society in Room 1233, #3
Building, at the National Research Council in
Ottawa Canada. Smith
wrote what appeared to be an introduction of the
goals of the meeting.
Invitations for the meeting were sent out to eighteen people from various Canadian government departments. Those that attended included: Dr. A.E. Covington - National Research Council Field Station Dr. A.E. Douglas Division of Physics, National Research Council Dr. G. Herzberg Director, Division of Physics, N. R. C. and later Nobel Prize Winner Mr. K. Kendall - Research Technician, National Film Board Mr. D.W.R. Mckinley N.R.C. Field Station Dr. Peter Millman - Dominion Observatory Dr. D.C. Rose Division of Physics, N.R.C. (person Smith approached with his anti-gravity experiment) Wilbert Smith - Department of Transport Dr. Ross Smyth - N.R.C. Field station Dr. D.F. Stedman - Applied Chemistry Branch, N.R.C. Mr. J.H. Thompson N.R.C. Marked as O.K. Mr. M.E. Flemming Department of Transport Crossed out on List Mr. R.F. Legget N.R.C. Dr. Thiessen N.R.C. Reported as too busy to attend. Mr. F.T. Davies - (no Department listed but was with the Defense Research Board) Worked on early anti-gravity experiments with Smith. Listed as did not attend? (Perhaps indicated no signature on sign-in sheet) Mr. J.W. Cox Radio Physics Laboratory, D.R.B. Dr. D.C. MacPhail Division of Mechanical Engineering, N.R.C. Mr. J.W. Scott Superintendent Radio Physics Board, D.R.B. Other than the sign-in sheet with the signatures on it, there are no other records of this group. Further, there is no other mention of the group in official records, or in Smith private files at the University of Ottawa Archives. |
