We Ufologists are a conspiratorial bunch. We see a hidden secret behind every rock, and secret society politician or military officer doing the hiding. There are many in power who stay up late at night to find ways to lead Ufology astray, and away from the truth.
In the past I have not bought into this world view, believing instead that those in power only wanted to be there badly and competing against the other 99% of people who could care less about politics. My view has always been that those in power have much less going for them than in the general public. One only has to read biographies of many of the Presidents to learn about shortcomings in their private lives. They have a long way to go in learning how to walk on water.
However, there are those days when I wonder. Yesterday was such a day. I had the blog thing down and I quickly posted my third blog comment before running out for a luncheon appointment. I checked the page to make sure, as I would rather find the error instead of scores of readers finding it and thereby questioning if I ever attended school.
I previewed the page and half of it was gone. Well that’s no problem. My friends will wait for me five minutes while I fix this. Back to Word 2007. Format fond, cut and paste into the blog creator. Preview the page and half the article is still missing.
I start to think. Could it be “them?”
“Lets not be silly,” I think. So I edit the blog again. Everything now looks uniform. The part that is missing looks the same as the rest. I preview the page, and it’s still gone. I had made two entries with no problems and now this. Now I’m pissed. I’m also late for lunch.
In September 2005 I was refused entry into the United States on the way to lecture in Los Angeles about the 64 reasons the powers that be have chosen not to release the UFO truth. Minutes later in the same airport my computer came up as positive for explosives. These two back to back events had led me to believe for a few moments that the conspiracy guys were right and they are out to get us in Ufology.
I thought at the time that I am too close to the truth and now they have me in the cross hairs. It turned out after thinking about it, that the homeland security officer in Vancouver Airport was probably just having a bad day. Maybe he had a fight with his boyfriend that morning, or hadn’t made his quota of refused entries yet for the day. The computer it turned out had been sent to Dell to get a new hard drive only two days before. They probably had used some kind of solvent on it to clean it before sending it back.
I had concluded the September 2005 events were random events and probably not related to UFOs at all. But now, with something blocking this blog entry, I am second guessing that conclusion.
I look at the other two blogs. I have one which is not friendly to Hillary Clinton in her race for the presidency. Instead of using a presidential looking picture with the blog, I used a picture of her with Big Bird. Maybe she’s upset about the picture and this is the payback. The conspiratorial mindset comes to the rescue. What would James Bond do if he was late for lunch and had to post a blog about a Russian Secret agent?
I cut the article and put it in an e-mail which I send to myself. Then I open my other computer, open the e-mail, open my blog site on that computer, and paste the article in. I prevue the article. It has worked. “Take that you dirty dogs,” I think. I have defeated the evil cabal again – whoever they might be.
So there we go. I am good for another day. Tomorrow when they figure out I have two computers, and shut them both down, I will think of something else. I have to, because the good guy always wins.
