Waiting for Hillary's Files

December 29, 2007

A very interesting interview has just been published related to the heavily contested Hillary Clinton files at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas.Conservative elements who are demanding a magic wand be waved so that the Library can dump out all Hillary Clinton material before the November 2008 election should read it.

The article is Inside The Clinton Archives by the National Journal Group publication and it was published December 17. The article is basically National Journal's Alexis Simendinger's Q & A with expert Sharon Fawcett, assistant archivist for presidential libraries at the National Archives and Records Administration.

According to Sharon Fawcett there are 118 million pages of material to process from the Clinton Presidency. This includes 70 million pages of textual documents and 48 million pages of emails. There are 10 archivists working on this material and they spend 65% of their actual time processing the Freedom of information Act Requests which determine which files are released first.

Fawcett stated that one million pages of material are now public. About 100,000 pages of this was processed through FOIAs,  500,000 pages of health care task force records that were released in 1994... [More]

President Clinton, Camp David, and the Sci-Fi Channel

December 2, 2007

Freedom of Information Act Request  # 2006-0543- F filed at the Clinton Library deals with the Sci-Fi channel being installed at Camp David. It was originally scheduled to be installed on June 24, 1996 but President Clinton insisted that it be installed by June 15th.

As with other UFO FOIA requests made at the Clinton Library this Sci-Fi request was based on previous evidence. In this case the evidence was a Variety article which was published at the time.

PRESIDENT STAYS CURRENT WATCHING THE SCI-FI CHANNEL

Variety Magazine, written by Ray Richmond.

HOLLYWOOD - Forget CNN, C-SPAN and CNBC. What President Clinton really wants is the Sci-Fi Channel. That became clear Friday [June 14], when a White House official contacted Dick Ross, a VP with USA Networks Inc., parent company of cable's Sci-Fi Channel. The official wanted to know how the president could receive the cable network at the White House, as well as his retreat at Camp David in Frederick, Md. Ross told the unnamed official that it just so happened that District Cablevision of Washington is set to add Sci-Fi Channel to its basic package June 24. Camp David, however, was another matter. The area surrounding the...

Shirley MacLaine, UFOs, and Dennis Kucinich

December 2, 2007

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal Shirley MacLaine has made additional comments about the Kucinich outing. In her most recent book, Sage-ing While Age-ing,  MacLaine explained how presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich witnessed a close encounter with a UFO while at her home in Washington State 25 years ago.

The book reference led to a question being put to Kucinich by Tim Russert during an October presidential debate. In the WSJ interview Jeffery Trachtenberg, the book publishing reporter at the Wall Street  Journal,  asked Shirley to comment on the position her revelation had placed Kucinich in.

Trachtenberg: I believe that midway through your book you talk about Dennis Kucinich actually see a…

MacLaine: He didn’t actually see a star being. He saw a craft.

Trachtenberg: A spaceship from your balcony.

MacLaine: Yah.

Trachtenberg: Were you concerned when you wrote that into your book that he might have to address that?

MacLaine: It never even occurred to me. I didn’t know that he was going to run for President. I certainly didn’t know that Tim Russert was going to bring it up. What on earth made him do that?

Trachtenberg: What on earth?

MacLaine: What...

Shirley MacLaine, UFOs, and The Presidents

November 30, 2007

Shirley MacLaine has added to her story of what US Presidents know or do not know about the subject of UFOs. The question of what the President knows is important because as head of sixteen intelligence agencies he (or she) should have the best possible answer to “What is the explanation for UFOs that have been reported by millions of people since WW11?

MacLaine has stated on more than one occasion that she has discussed the issue of UFOs with many US presidents. Now in an interview with Dave Rabbit at Abovetopsecret.com. The question posed to MacLaine was.

How would you propose to get definite answers from our government?

I’ll tell you what Dave. That is something that not even Jimmy Carter could not get. He told me when he was President – because he had seen a UFO etc. He told me that he had gone into investigating with his intelligence what they were etc., and he was told that basically Presidents or the executive branch is not on a need to know. And I saw him not to long ago. I was campaigning for his son (Jack Carter running for Senate) in Nevada. We had dinner together...

Reagan and the Clinton Library

November 21, 2007

Just got two FOIAs yesterday from the Reagan Library.  It appears I filed a couple FOIAs when I was researching at the Reagan Library.
One is dated 7/16/02, and it is for selected folders from the Coordination Office of the NSC collection. 492 pages in total/ 246 withheld.
The other is dated 7/17/02. It must be even better stuff because of  392 pages all withheld except for 72 pages. The files I asked for are from the Sven Kraemer collection whoever the hell he is.
Such is the world of FOIAs. By the time they process it most is withheld, but it doesn't much matter because you can't even remember what the hell the request was about.
Those conservatives who think they will get the goods on Hillary from the Clinton Library before the election are dreaming.

Hillary and the UFO Question

November 17, 2007

Hillary and the UFO Question

Ever since Tim Russert asked Dennis Kucinich the "did you see a UFO" question during the October 30 Democratic Presidential Debate, there have been a flurry of UFO questions to other White House hopefuls.

Barack Obama, for example, was asked moments after Kucinich if he believed there was life in outer space. He carefully evaded by saying, "I believe there is life on Earth."

Bill Richardson, the governor of Roswell has faced the UFO question many times during this Presidential campaign partly because a few years back he wrote a forward to a book about an archeological dig done in New Mexico looking for evidence of the rumored 1947 flying saucer that crashed outside of Roswell, New Mexico. He has replied to all the UFO questions by saying that he doesn't believe in UFOs, but thinks the government did not release all the material on the 1947 crash, and is all in favor of the tourism that the UFO subject has brought to Roswell.

John McCain, in reply to a question if he had ever seen one said he'd never seen one, "but I keep looking all the time." Joe Biden told CNN's...

Two Steps Forward - One Step Back

November 10, 2007

The date is November 9, 2007. We have just passed the 60 year anniversary of when UFOs became a United States government public relations problem.

The scene on November 9th looked promising. Thanks to a UFO questions posed to presidential campaigners Dennis Kucinich and Bill Richardson the UFO issue was now being discussed by media all over the United States. Not only was it being discussed, it was being done in a tone that was not quite as condescending as in the past.

The future looked bright. On November 12, there was going to be news conference at the National Press Club in Washington where high ranking pilots and officials from around the world would be telling their stories of UFO encounters.

The Clinton Library had just released 18 Freedom of Information Act Requests related to files from the Bill Clinton White House files. The release was a big story because Hillary Clinton was still the front runner to be the next U.S. president and some of these FOIAs were her files from the Clinton White House. Then the word came out; 12 of the released FOIAs were related to the Clinton White House role in trying to get...

Carter Denies UFO Tales

November 6, 2007

Well he did it.

Jimmy Carter has now indirectly denied 70% of everything I have written about him on my Presidential UFO website. The stunning Carter interview can be found on the New England Skeptical Society Website.

http://www.theskepticsguide.org/skepticsguide/podcastinfo.asp?pid=105

At first this sounds like the death of Carter Presidential Ufology, but after careful reflection, it has become an opportunity to go back to the sources who first gave me the stories. They include heavyweights just like Jimmy Carter including prominent civil rights attorney Danny Sheehan and actress Shirley MacLaine. Like Carter they are not easily accessible and haven’t really flaunted their UFO connection to Jimmy Carter.

The Carter denials also now give weight to people like Dr. Steven Greer and his disclosure witnesses who have always maintained President Carter was out of the loop on the UFO secret.

What at first sounds like disaster could end up being like a Saturday night battle of the Titans which might actually get us closer to the truth.

A new series of research requests has begun to get the answers. I can hardly wait.

Dennis Kucinich is Silent

October 28, 2007

The Kucinich Silence

"Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me.” Jesus Christ shortly before his death. In a newly released book, “Sage-Ing While Age-Ing.” Hollywood actress and author Shirley MacLaine makes a short reference to a UFO close encounter by 2008 presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich. In her book MacLaine wrote that Kucinich “had a close sighting over my home in Graham, Washington, when I lived there. Dennis found his encounter extremely moving. The smell of roses drew him out to my balcony where, when he looked up, he saw a gigantic triangular craft, silent, and observing him. It hovered, soundless, for ten minutes or so, and sped away with a speed he couldn’t comprehend. He said he felt a connection in his heart and heard directions in his mind.”Dennis Kucinich, has always been a darling of the UFO community. He has been viewed as a visionary congressman outside the mainstream and thus prepared to take on the important task of leading the US government to disclosure of the truth about the ET presence. Following Shirley MacLaine’s  disclosure that Kucinich had experienced a UFO up close, Kucinich was even anointed  by some in... [More]

Will UFOs Help Hillary?

September 16, 2007

The other day I received three new FOIA replies from the Clinton presidential library. They were all for more files from Hillary Clinton’s first lady files during the Bill Clinton White House days.

I was informed that the library would be reviewing 700 photos from the Hillary Clinton files related to a close friend of the Clintons – singer Carly Simon, who I found has at least a passing interest in UFOs. I was also told that the library would be reviewing 400 pages of Hillary files related to “outer space and NASA.” I hoped that the subject of UFOs might been included, because after all Hillary had wanted to be an astronaut when she was young, and Bill Clinton said she had a deep interest in outer space. The final request was for Hillary files related to evangelist Billy Graham who in his book “Angels: God's Secret Agents” described his belief that UFOs were angels of God. I was told 650 photographs would be reviewed for release.

The FOIA requests were numbered 2007- 1756 to 1758 which means there are 1755 requests ahead of me for 2007 alone. Considering not one of my 2006 requests has been completed I...

Another Roswell Witness?

September 9, 2007

As the Roswell crash story passes its 60th year there are still names being put forward to the 600 odd witnesses that have been identified. Now there may be another. My interest has always been the involvement of President Truman in the whole story. What has come up so far is not much. He answered a question about flying saucers only a couple days after the famous press release stating that the AAF had recovered a disc. Some of the key military officials around him seemed to be having meeting about something the day after the press release. Now one promising angle has come up that promises new evidence. Two witnesses related to the crash had told people they were sworn to secrecy about their involvement with the crash. They were General Laurence Craigie who had flown into Roswell in early July 1947 on orders from General Curtis LeMay, then Deputy Chief of Air Staff for Research and Development. Another was Major Edwin Easley who was Roswell base Provost Marshal in charge of the Military Police at the crash site.Hoping for a lead to tie in President Truman I sent an e-mail to Roswell researcher Tom Carey... The Missing UFO Books

August 19, 2007

Got an e-mail from my researcher friend Dr. David Rudiak yesterday dealing with the possible involvement of President Truman following the July 1947 crash. As usual David David’s e-mail was filled with numerous dates, events, and people. He is always a challenge to those he corresponds with to be on their game when it comes to the facts.

There was some new details I had not seen before, so I decided to update my knowledge by buying Witness To Roswell, a recent book on the Roswell crash by Don Schmitt and Tomas Carey.

After a trip to two largest bookstores in my city, I was shocked to find that not only could I not find Witness to Roswell, I could not find a single UFO book in either store. All the other para subjects were however well represented. Witchcraft and astrology, for example, had their own sections with dozens of titles to chose from.

My mind has been racing ever since trying to figure out what happened. Is this absence of books a part of the grand conspiracy to cover up the ET presence on Earth? Are there no books being printed anymore? Were the UFO books so...

The World Stock Market, Hoaxes and the UFO Vacuum

August 13, 2007

I am often approached by local people who know about my interest in UFOs. They point out that they have heard no news about UFOs lately and want to know what is new. My standard reply is – not much.

The true answer is that there are probably just as many sightings as there ever were. The difference I believe is that newspapers no longer cover sightings on front pages or on any page for that matter. Even tabloid magazines like the National Enquirer no longer do stories on UFOs. Secondly, a look back at UFO history will show that the truly big UFO stories were few and far between.

This UFO story vacuum has created the impression that the ETs have gone away, and we are back to being an isolated planet floating in a universe where the speed of light restricts us from ever having a friend or as defined by the military industrial complex – an enemy.

The lack of publicity on UFOs has also dried up interest in the world of UFO researchers. Many research organizations like NICAP and the Centre for UFO Studies, once well known and populous, have gone under due to lack of...

Bill Richardson Answers Every Question

July 28, 2007

Billy Cox, a Florida Journalist has been looking for him. So has Dr. Steven Greer. UFO lobbyist Steven Bassett invited him to a conference next spring to announce his plans for UFO disclosure. So far there is no news that Richardson has replied to the invites and the questions.

So what's the Bill deal? Richardson is a politician which puts him into the book of “Scoundrels I have Known and Loved." It’s not like he’s expected to reply to everyone – or anyone.

Well, the key here is that Richardson has been interested in UFOs in the past, and Ufologists are eternal optimists. In 2004, Richardson was quoted talking about the famous Roswell UFO crash in a book written about the archaeological dig at the supposed crash site called “The Roswell Dig Diaries.”

"Clearly, it would help everyone if the U.S. government disclosed everything it knows," said Richardson, who served as Energy secretary under President Bill Clinton. "The American people can handle the truth -- no matter how bizarre or mundane. ... With full disclosure and our best scientific investigation, we should be able to find out what happened on that fateful day in July 1947."

Further to this, as...

Weekly World News Alien Connection

July 26, 2007

As long as UFOs have been around they have often been regarded by the general public as a tabloid type story, sometimes not worthy of serious consideration. This preconceived attitude has extended itself to the rest of the media which rarely does anything beyond fluff on the subject.

This image of UFOs may have been created by the CIA in January 1953 when they gave secret instructions to take “immediate steps to strip the Unidentified Flying Objects of the special status they have been given and the aura of mystery they have unfortunately acquired.” The CIA committee suggested an educational debunking program to be “accomplished by mass media such as television, motion pictures, and popular articles.”

Now, what’s important about this? Well, unknown to everyone who believes the UFO tabloid myth, there actually is only one tabloid that does UFO stories. The main tabloid papers such as the National Enquirer and The Star do not cover UFO stories and haven't done so for almost two decades.

Now after 28 years of putting out wacko stories, the only UFO tabloid newspaper that did do UFO stories is folding. As of August 2007, the Publisher American Media Inc announced it would stop publishing the Weekly...

Hillary Files Face Lawsuit

July 25, 2007

I have filed 80+ FOIAs for UFO files with the Clinton Presidential Library. Even though the requests were filed in February 2006 I have not received a single page of the roughly 30,000 pages that are under review for me. Now Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption has filed a lawsuit against U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, which runs the Clinton Library. The lawsuit requests Hillary Clinton's files related to the her involvement with the Bill Clinton administration.

How this is resolved will be of interest to Ufology, as almost all of my UFO requests were filed before the Judicial Watch FOIA, and they should therefore be processed first.

CNN Debate UFO Question

July 22, 2007

My friend Steve Bassett had placed  question on youtube with his UFO question for the democratic devbate taking place at the Citadel in Charleston, S.C. on July 23, 2007 at 7pm EST.

Steve writes, "This question to all the candidates requests their intentions as president regarding their being fully briefed on the ET/UFO issue by the military and civilian intelligence agencies and regarding their calling for open, comprehensive congressional hearings to take the testimony of scores of former government employees ready to come before the Congress now."

UFO Questions for the 2008 Campaign

July 20, 2007

Steve Bassett, the lone Washington UFO Lobbyist and Executive Director of  the Paradigm Research Group Extraterrestrial Phenomena Political Action Committee has now posted questions that can be asked of the various 2008 Election Campaign. This is one of Steve's main ideas to get the ET issue into the discussion of issues of the 2008 election.

However, in 2004 General Wesley Clark was a forerunner in the Democratic primaries. He stood up in the New Hampshire primary and told voters that he believed we could exceed the speed of light, which led to an e-mail message to me that General Clark had been briefed on the crash saucer program. When I asked some of the top ufologists in various states to ask Clark if he had been briefed on UFOs, I was told by some that they did not want to “embarrass” the candidate or "ruin his chance" to win.

Hopefully, times have changed and ufologists believe it is important enough to stand up to the plate. If not ufology will remain a hobby style interest for the general public.

Truman's Secret Roswell Interest (UPDATE)

July 20, 2007

As expected General Lawrence Craigie, who it is now claimed was flown into Roswell following the 1947 crash and made a deal with President Truman to keep quiet, has no supporting evidence from the Truman presidential files.

In an e-mail dated July 20, 2007 Randy Sowell at the Truman library wrote

 Greetings from the Truman Library:

Thank you for your e-mail of July 13.  I found only three references to
General Craigie in President Truman's White House files.  In January
1948, Craigie was named by Secretary of the Air Force Stuart Symington
as his representative on the Interdepartmental Committee on Research and
Development.  In August 1949, Craigie contacted the White House to
request an autographed photo of the President, which he received.  In
June 1952, Craigie was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff for Development,
U.S. Air Force, with the rank of Lt. General.  I found no correspondence
with Craigie dating from July 1947.

I looked through the President's phone records from July 1947 and found
no references to General Craigie.  The President's appointments schedule
includes one listing of Craigie's name.  He was in attendance on Dec.
17, 1947, at a White House ceremony marking the presentation of the
Collier Trophy...

Truman's Secret Roswell Interest

July 14, 2007

As a Presidential UFO researcher I have been following the how the most powerful man in the world has dealt with the most highly classified secret of the last century- the UFO mystery.

In this regard I have tracked Presidential phone calls, visits with people who have been tied into the UFO mystery, replies to UFO queries from the media of the public, and meetings in the White House that might have involved the subject of UFOs.

Most of this work has brought few results. At times the lack of apparent involvement has led me think the President might not be involved at all.

President Truman is a prime example. Although he was in office at the time of the rumored Roswell UFO crash, a close review of all the presidential schedules shows very little was being done by the President that would tie him  into the story. There have been promising leads such as when it was rumored there was film of him attending the alien autopsy that occurred just following the crash. The lead turned out to be without substance like many of the other leads that came forward.

From time to time, however, one gets lucky. Little...

UFOs in the 2008 Presidential Election (Updated)

July 8, 2007

As of yet UFOs have not become a part of the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Issues still centre on the war in Iraq, and domestic issues that affect daily well being.

There is a lack of discussion on the issue of UFOs, despite the fact that some of the candidates have been involved with the issue in the past.

John McCain, a leading Republican candidate for President has faced the UFO question in the past, according to Todd Ristau of the Iowa UFO Research Network.

Ristau claimed that during the 2000 presidential campaign, "McCain acknowledged that there are very interesting aspects of the UFO question and he is ready to investigate what he can, after he is elected." He didn't get elected so we will never know what would have happened.

When asked about the 1997 Pheonix lights which had always been held high by researchers as one of the firmest pieces of evidence we are being visited, McCain was less enthusiastic. He stated, “"That has never been fully explained, but I have to tell you that I do not have any evidence whatsoever of aliens or UFOs."

Bill Richardson is a former New Mexico State governor, and... [More]

UFO Secret

July 7, 2007

The other day a new book titled Witness to Roswell: Unmasking the 60-Year Cover-Up by Thomas J. Carey and Donald R. Schmitt 2007 revealed the fact that someone connected to the 1947 Roswell crash had left behind a secret to be found following his death. In a 2002 SEALED AFFIDAVIT WALTER G. HAUT, the base Public Information Officer at the Roswell Army Air Base in Roswell, New Mexico, told the true story of what he saw and knew regarding the famous rumored UFO crash.

Prior to the discovery of the notarized affidavit following Haut’s December 2005 death, Haut acknowledged he had sent out a press statement that a flying saucer had been found, but that he could remember very little about what exactly was recovered and whether or not alien bodies were involved. The affidavit confirmed that the recovery was indeed a flying saucer, and that bodies were recovered. It is a nice story that adds great weight to the fact that we are not alone in the Universe.

The Haut story has made many in Ufology happy, but it has made me sad. I have been in the UFO business for 32 years and no one has ever told...

We’re Not Crazy After All

July 4, 2007

Last week the Washington Post newspaper published a major series of articles and Powerpoint presentations on “the Angler,” which is the secret service code name for Vice President Dick Cheney.

It make me think back on my 15 seconds of fame when I got to question Cheney about a subject near and dear to my heart – UFOs. The event occurred on April 11, 2001 on the Washington D.C. Diane Rehm talk show, just after Bush and Cheney had won the White House.

Questioning a guy like Cheney is no small feat. He has always come across like the Godfather of Secrets and back room dealings. As the Washington Post stated of him, “Cheney, has in effect, declared himself to be neither fish nor fowl but an exotic, extraconstitutional beast who answers to no one.”

The question I asked had to do with being briefing on UFOs rather than UFOs as a subject. In the past people had questioned the President on a sighting they had experienced or what they thought about UFOs. Because you usually only get one question with someone like the President, the President has usually been able to sidestep the question with hypotheticals. No one makes it to...

They're Back !!

July 3, 2007

We Ufologists are a conspiratorial bunch. We see a hidden secret behind every rock, and secret society politician or military officer doing the hiding. There are many in power who stay up late at night to find ways to lead Ufology astray, and away from the truth.

In the past I have not bought into this world view, believing instead that those in power only wanted to be there badly and competing against the other 99% of people who could care less about politics. My view has always been that those in power have much less going for them than in the general public. One only has to read biographies of many of the Presidents to learn about shortcomings in their private lives. They have a long way to go in learning how to walk on water.

However, there are those days when I wonder. Yesterday was such a day. I had the blog thing down and I quickly posted my third blog comment before running out for a luncheon appointment. I checked the page to make sure, as I would rather find the error instead of scores of readers finding it and thereby questioning if I ever attended school....

What the hell is Going On?

July 2, 2007

In the last couple days I have been reviewing the draft of a 27-page article titled “The Breaking of Jim Sparks, or, why the Aliens Don’t Land on the White House lawn.” The article has been written for the second issue of The Journal of Abduction Research (JAR) which is a new first class magazine with articles from the top abduction researchers around the world. The article I was reviewing was written by JAR Board Member Elaine Douglass, who is also Utah Co-State Director for MUFON. Elaine Douglass

Elaine and I go back a long way. We have met many times at conferences on the west coast, and I stayed at her house once on my way back from the World UFO Congress in Laughlin, Nevada. Elaine is like me in that she is ultimately interested in “what the hell is going on” as opposed to collecting UFO cases. Elaine holds a master degree in military policy from MIT, which has always made me wonder how she got into UFOs.

Elaine is very direct. I recall lecturing in Denver where I indicated that, based on the evidence I was seeing, I was starting to have doubts the President of the United States knew...

Abduction Conditioning

July 1, 2007

PIXAR's "Lifted" is released. Last night, June 30th, I sat in a full theatre of kids to see the new 5 minute short just released by Disney/PIXAR Animation Studios. It isTeen alien the story of an alien in training, as he attempts his first abduction of a human sleeping in the upstairs of a lonely country house. While his alien instructor agonized in pain over what was happening, the kids in the theatre roared with laughter at every move. The piece was amazingly funny, and it led me to carefully watch the reaction of the children around me. Would they now be willing to accept abduction as just another part of life to be laughed at, rather than the terror that has been used so often in UFO abduction books to describe the phenomena? My conclusion - they loved it and so will you. Be sure to see it along with Ratatoulle which is the movie it proceeds.

UFOs in 2008 Election

June 30, 2007

As of yet UFOs have not become a part of the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Issues still centre on the war in Iraq, and domestic issues that affect daily well being.

Having been in the election trenches many times in the past Hillary Clinton has become Hillary Clintonreligious about the issues that will give her the disenchanted Republican votes needed to win in a close election. Having headed up health care reform in the first Clinton administration she knows good ideas don't always fly, and might even loose voting support.

She and her spin doctors have focused their 2008 election discussion on such issues as immigration reform and border security. This will attract the Republicans who feel the President has not dealt with outsiders taking away American jobs.

Do not be fooled. Elections are about votes - not issues.
